The Snaefellsnes Peninsula in Iceland is surrounded on 3 sides by the Labrador Sea and its harsh cold waters. A small area with limited population along the Southern Coast, Hellnar, sits on the ocean wall. The Church, that occupies only 40, red roof foreshadows the continuation of the color inside. The crimson carpet and pews are illuminated by a chandelier hanging from the arched roof, but the low ceiling evokes a feeling of closeness. Shreve captured this scene as the cloud cover began to envelope the Southern coast just before dusk.
