Monument Valley, meaning “The Valley of Rocks” is a region on the Colorado Plateau most characterized by it’s sandstone buttes, also known as the “Mittens”, reaching over 1,000 feet from the valley floor. The area is mostly occupied by the Navajo Indian Nation. As the sun set to the west, beneath a stormy cloud layer, the entire valley was covered in an intense reddish orange light which made the Valley seem to be on fire.
